Maharashtra govt allocates Rs 2.21 bn for Karad Airport Development

It was announced by the Maharashtra government that Rs 2.21 billion had been approved for the transformation of the current airstrip in Karad, Satara district, into an airport.

As per a government resolution (GR), it was mentioned that Rs 890 million would be utilised for the procurement of 45.82 hectare of land for the project. Additionally, Rs 290.73 million would be allocated for the extension of the existing airstrip, construction of an apron, and the enhancement of navigation and communication systems.

Furthermore, an approval of Rs 200 million was granted for the acquisition of 2.9 hectares of land to facilitate the relocation of project-affected individuals. An additional Rs 140.59 million would be expended on tasks such as leveling the land, constructing the compound wall, and establishing channels to manage water during the rainy season.
