Sembcorp Industries has secured a 50 MW round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), further expanding its clean energy footprint in India.
To fulfil the contract, Sembcorp will integrate around 300 MW of installed capacity, combining solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to ensure reliable RTC power delivery. The company stated that the project would be developed under a build-own-operate model and is expected to be operational within 24 months of signing the power purchase agreement (PPA).
This win was part of SECI’s 1.2 GW tender for RTC power from Inter-State Transmission System-connected renewable projects. SECI acts as the central government’s nodal agency for auctioning and facilitating renewable energy capacity across India.
With this addition, Sembcorp’s total renewable capacity in India has now surpassed 6.5 GW, while its global clean energy portfolio has reached 18 GW, including pending acquisitions.
The project will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and external debt, reflecting Sembcorp’s ongoing commitment to scalable and sustainable energy solutions in line with India’s green transition goals.
