Zoomlion Expands African Footprint with New Machinery

Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. unveiled its latest agricultural and engineering machinery solutions customised for the African market at the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, held in Changsha, China from 12 to 15 June 2025. The exhibition reinforced the company’s commitment to Africa’s development across construction, agriculture, and industrial modernisation.
Since entering the African market in 2007, Zoomlion has played a pivotal role in the continent’s growth, contributing machinery to landmark infrastructure and farming projects. The company showcased a broad spectrum of products during the expo, including construction cranes, agricultural machinery, aerial work platforms, and earthmoving equipment—all tailored to meet the unique environmental and operational challenges of Africa.
With over 10,000 units of equipment deployed across the continent, Zoomlion has become one of Africa’s leading machinery exporters. Its footprint includes subsidiaries and service networks in South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Kenya, along with a joint-venture manufacturing facility in Algeria and spare parts centres in both Algeria and South Africa. The company continues to expand its dealer and distribution network to offer integrated services including sales, technical support, financing, and maintenance.
Zoomlion has supported major infrastructure ventures such as Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, which includes Africa’s tallest skyscraper (385.8 metres), 12 commercial office towers, five residential buildings, and two luxury hotels. In Tanzania, its equipment has been critical to the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP), which boosts the nation’s installed hydropower capacity by nearly 3.7 times, from 562 megawatts. Other significant contributions include Chad’s N'Djamena Stadium, capable of hosting continental sports events and large cultural gatherings, and the Rosso Bridge linking Senegal and Mauritania, expected to become a vital commercial corridor.
Zoomlion’s momentum in Africa continues to accelerate. In the first quarter of 2025, the company recorded sales equal to 60 per cent of its entire 2024 total. By May 2025, Zoomlion’s African team had grown to over 300 employees, with more than 90 per cent of the workforce comprising local hires—supporting not only regional infrastructure but also employment and skills development.
