Greater Noida Film City to Begin with Rs 1.5 Billion First Phase

Greater Noida is set to host one of India’s most ambitious entertainment infrastructure projects with the upcoming International Film City in Sector 21, along the Yamuna Expressway. The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is expected to lay the foundation stone in late June, either in person or via video conference. While June 16 has been speculated, the final date is yet to be officially confirmed.
The project is being developed by Bayview Bhutani Film City Pvt Ltd—a joint venture between filmmaker Boney Kapoor and the Bhutani Group—in collaboration with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
The first phase of the Film City will span 230 acres and involve an investment of Rs 900 million to Rs 1.51 billion. It will feature essential film-making infrastructure such as 1314 sound stages, a film and television institute, permanent outdoor sets, actor residences, an underwater shooting studio, a film museum, and a convention centre.
Earlier delays in approval were due to layout non-compliance, particularly the lack of the mandatory 15 per cent green cover, along with pending safety and structural clearances. Following necessary revisions, YEIDA approved the 80-acre industrial core area, paving the way for the project’s commencement.
The International Film City is planned to unfold over four phases across eight years, ultimately covering 1,000 acres. Future phases will introduce commercial and recreational components, including hotels, retail zones, and leisure spaces.
Located near the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, the project is expected to position Uttar Pradesh as a major film production hub. Officials estimate that it could create as many as 500,000 direct and indirect jobs, providing a significant economic boost to the region while attracting both domestic and international film productions.
