Siemens Bags Rs 41 Billion High-Speed Rail Contract

A consortium led by Siemens Limited, Siemens Mobility GmbH, and Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd has secured a Rs 41 billion contract from the National High Speed Rail Corporation for India’s first high-speed rail project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Siemens Limited’s share of the contract stands at Rs 12.3 billion.

The scope of work includes design, installation, and 15 years of maintenance for cutting-edge signalling and telecommunications technologies based on the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 standard. These technologies will facilitate train operations at speeds of up to 350 km/h, enabling real-time supervision, seamless wireless communication, and centralised traffic management.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is a cornerstone of India’s National Rail Plan 2030, aimed at modernising the country's rail infrastructure and improving connectivity. Siemens' participation in the project underscores its commitment to the ‘Make in India initiative by delivering future-ready, sustainable mobility solutions.

The project is expected to be completed over a 54-month period, supporting India’s ambition to become a global leader in next-generation transport infrastructure.
