German building materials company HeidelbergCement, as a part of its Beyond 2020 strategy, has decided to establish two new positions on the Management Board to drive the company鈥檚 transformation into sustainability and digitalisation. HeidelbergCement鈥檚 Beyond 2020 strategy aims to bring the company closer to being an ideal industry leader that promotes lower carbon emission rates and to become the first techno-industrial group in the construction materials industry. The first recruitment to the Managing Board, Dr Nicola Kimm will be taken charge as Chief Sustainability Officer of HeidelbergCement who will lead the company's environment social governance, global research and development and new technologies. Kimm specialises in sustainability and is at present the Executive Committee Member and Chief Sustainability Officer of Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting NV. Kimm is a trained ecologist and chemical engineer who secured a doctorate in business engineering and has a successful international career of 25 years. She has worked with major companies like BASF, Corbion/CSM and Philips and also in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Dennis Lentz, the next recruit to the Managing Board who will serve as the Chief Digital Officer, will be in charge of the digital transformation of HeidelbergCement. Prior to joining Heidelberg, Lentz was a management consultant in the building materials and mining industry. He has an excellent career history from 2010 by being the Head of Group Energy purchasing, Director Logistics and Group CIO at HeidelbergCement. The Chief Financial Officer will also be replaced due to the retirement of the present officer, Dr Lorenz Nager by the end of August. The role will be taken over by Rene Aldach, who will be in charge of -- finance, accounting, controlling, taxes, treasury, insurance and risk management, data governance, shared service centre, and procurement.
