LafargeHolcim Awards Ceremony 2020: Three Indian projects bag awards

The LafargeHolcim Foundation announced the winners at the recently held Regional LafargeHolcim Awards Ceremony 2020 in the Asia Pacific. Out of the five projects declared as winners for the Asia Pacific region, three were Indian projects.
The LafargeHolcim Awards is significant competition for sustainable design, and its Next-Generation category recognises the visionary concepts and bold ideas of young professionals and students.
The top three winners received $25,000, $20,000, and $15,000, while the two ex-aequo fourth-place winners received 10,000 US dollars each. In addition to the prize money, each winner also got a personalised trophy featuring the Modulor of the Swiss architect LeCorbusier.
The first prize was awarded to the 鈥楻ecovered Foreshore in India鈥� project 鈥� Waterfront sanitation and community infrastructure by Soledad Pati帽o.
The second position went to the 鈥楾owers of Strength in India鈥� 鈥� Multifunctional amenities and services in informal settlements by Lorenzo Fernandes and Cultivated Envelope in India 鈥� Vernacular green facade system by Divya Jyoti also bagged an award.
In its sixth edition, 4742 projects from 134 countries submitted entries for the award. The selected entries which met the competition criteria underwent a rigorous screening process in online jury meetings in the five competition regions. The entries are analysed on five Target Issues for Sustainable Construction 鈥� Progress, People, Planet, Prosperity, and Place.
The LafargeHolcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction was created by LafargeHolcim in 2003 as an independent legal entity to raise awareness of the critical role that architecture, engineering, urban planning, and the building industry have in achieving a more sustainable future.
