Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government is working to solve the single-use plastic problem. Out of the target set for 2030, of the installation of electricity capacity derived from non-fossil energy, the country has already achieved 40%. Plastic waste management is another problem that the government is working on alongside single-use plastic. The tourists are urged to not litter the hills or rivers with plastic as it is their responsibility too. After the inauguration and the foundation stone being laid down for the four mega hydropower projects worth Rs11,000 crore, Prime Minister Modi said the projects are a fragment of the new India that is climate-friendly and that aims at protecting the environment. He further mentioned that it is a step that is recognised on a global level. Modi said that the country is making continuous efforts for making optimum usage of all the renewable energy resources. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation of the Renukaji dam project located in the Sirmaur district worth Rs 7,000 crore with the other hydro projects. The project had been pending for the last three decades. It will now significantly affect the water supply. For this project, the centre had to bring six states including Himachal Pradesh, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Delhi. Prior to the launch of these projects, the PM attended the ceremony of the global investors鈥� meet of Himachal Pradesh.
