The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in India’s clean energy and manufacturing sectors.
The two-year partnership, which includes a provision for extension, will focus on supporting early-stage climate-tech startups through access to funding, mentorship, pilot deployments, and market connections. The initiative aims to create a robust pipeline of scalable, investment-ready ventures aligned with India’s net-zero targets.
As part of this collaboration, GEAPP will roll out the Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge (ENTICE)—a competitive platform offering up to USD 500,000 in rewards for impactful energy solutions. Investment facilitation will also be channelled through partners such as Spectrum Impact and Avana Capital.
DPIIT will link the programme to the Startup India network, while outreach will be integrated with major government schemes to ensure wide participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, emphasised the crucial role of startups in driving India’s climate goals. “This partnership opens up meaningful avenues for scaling innovative energy technologies, he said.
Saurabh Kumar, Vice President India, GEAPP, described the MoU as a step towards systemic change, blending government support, global expertise, and local innovation to advance clean energy entrepreneurship.
The agreement was formally signed by Dr Sumeet Jarangal and Saurabh Kumar, in the presence of senior officials from both DPIIT and GEAPP.
