Chennai-based Evolve Energy has secured a contract to implement a 5 MW rooftop solar project across various government buildings in Puducherry, following a tender by the Pondicherry Electricity Board (PEB) and facilitated by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The project involves deploying rooftop solar systems across key public infrastructure, including secretariats, hospitals, courts, educational institutions, and administrative offices. With site-specific customisation, Evolve Energy aims to ensure smooth integration with minimal operational disruption.
As the end-to-end engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, Evolve Energy will handle everything from site surveys and tailored system design to commissioning and long-term operations and maintenance, ensuring consistent quality and system performance.
This initiative contributes to India's growing push toward renewable energy adoption, demonstrating how public-private partnerships can accelerate the green energy transition. Once operational, the project is expected to generate approximately 7,000 MWh annually, resulting in substantial carbon emission reductions and savings in public sector energy costs.
Prasad SK, Head of Tenders at Evolve Energy, stated, 鈥淥ur expertise in distributed solar solutions allows us to deliver high-efficiency systems that reduce environmental impact while creating economic value for government infrastructure.鈥
The announcement follows Puducherry鈥檚 2023 regulatory revision permitting grid-connected rooftop and ground-mounted solar installations between 5 kWp and 500 kWp under net metering, further enabling clean energy adoption across the Union Territory.
