Maharashtra aims to solarise 35 lakh agricultural pumps by 2025 under the PM-KUSUM Scheme, making it a model state in renewable energy implementation, Union minister of new and renewable energy Pralhad Joshi said at a regional workshop on renewable energy in Mumbai. The workshop was attended by Minister of state for new and renewable energy and power Shripad Yesso Naik, Maharashtra鈥檚 New and Renewable Energy Minister Atul Moreshwar Save, Gujarat鈥檚 Finance, Energy, and Petrochemicals Minister Kanubhai Mohanlal Desai, and Goa鈥檚 Minister for Non-Conventional Sources of Energy Sudin Dhavalikar. Union minister Pralhad Joshi highlighted India鈥檚 renewable energy targets, including achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, ensuring 50% of installed power capacity comes from non-fossil sources, and reducing carbon emissions by 1 billion tonnes. The country also aims to reduce emission intensity of GDP by 45% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. Joshi emphasised the role of flagship programs like PM-KUSUM, PM Surya Ghar Yojana, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission in transforming India鈥檚 energy sector. 鈥淚ndia is on track to achieve its renewable energy goals with the collective efforts of states and stakeholders,鈥� he said. Maharashtra鈥檚 leadership in implementing PM-KUSUM was cited as a key example of progress, particularly in supporting farmers and advancing renewable energy initiatives.
