NCL partners with CISR-IICT, Hyderabad for clean coal technologies

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has inked an MoU with CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad for clean coal technologies and gainful utilisation of overburden. Major regions of Collaboration wherein CSIR-IICT will extend its scientific help to NCL are Clean Coal Technologies comprising Coal to Liquid & Chemicals, Exploring Alternate eco-friendly technologies for energy, Coal to Hydrogen, Gainful utilisation of OBR, to prepare and form project proposals relevant to the coal sector, etc. NCL will spend around Rs 7.31 crore in the coming five years in this collaboration.

This MoU is important and in line with the idea of India鈥檚 Panchamrit at COP-26. The developing economies of countries are additionally growing the energy needs of countries. This collaboration of NCL & IICT will support the firm in the direction of sustainable mining and exploring future technologies along with the energy security of the country.

In the other green mining initiative, NCL is setting up a 50 MW ground-mounted Solar Energy Setup to become a net-zero company in the future and adopting energy efficiency standards with technological up-gradation in the firm.

The CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology is a national-level research center situated in Hyderabad, India, under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which research basic and applied chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering and renders science and technology inputs for the industrial and economic development of the nation.
