SJVN wins GUVNL鈥檚 100 MW solar auction

Energy major Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVN), has acquired the 100 MW project conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The company won the auction at a tariff of Rs 2.64 per kWh, which is to be set in Raghanesda Solar Park in Gujarat (phase-X).

However, GUVNL in March this year reissued tenders to acquire 800 MW of solar power projects at the Dholera and Raghanesda Solar parks in the state. The first tender was for 700 MW solar projects to be installed at the 1 GW Dholera Solar Park. The second tender was for forming a 100 MW solar project at the Raghanesda Solar Park.

In February this year, the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission asked GUVNL to drop the solar auction at Dholera Solar Park of 700 MW and reissue the tender at a more economical tariff. Officials told the media that the tariff has been lowered from last time. Basic Customs Duty (BCD) has not been part as the company aims to procure the module by March 2022, before the effectiveness of BCD. Following a petition by SJVN, GUVNL to reissue its 100 MW solar auction for a project at Raghanesda Solar Park. Since tender was canceled over five months after the auction the developers were unhappy as letters of awards were issued.

SJVN Limited, Tata Power, TEQ Green Power, and Vena Energy Renewables filed a petition with the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) seeking relief after GUVNL decided to reissue its 700 MW tender. The developers have asked GUVNL to keep bids valid till one week until the APTEL decides.

Further, the APTEL asked GUVNL to extend the validity of bids placed by the developers by two weeks in its canceled 700 MW solar auction.
