India's construction sector registered 68.3 per cent growth in the first quarter of FY2021-22 despite the second wave of COVID-19, the National Statistical Office (NSO) reported. As construction activities pick further pace in a reviving economy, some operational challenges remain. Prime among these are equipment maintenance and servicing. A leader in the lubrication industry, Mobilâ„ Lubricants has been collaborating closely with construction companies to assist them in enhancing their profitability. Mobil’s association with AB Rock Products, a leading operator in the construction sector, is an instance of such association.Association with AB Rock ProductsAB Rock Products is a manufacturer of gravel, M-Sand and dust, based out of Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The company conducts operations across 200 TPH crusher plants that deploy a popular brand of wheel-loaders for aggregate loading. These wheel-loaders were being lubricated with a market general EP3 grease, which, however, was not performing as expected. Rather than easing operations, it was resulting in higher consumption due to short re-greasing interval and reduced bush and pin life. Seeking a quick and reliable solution, AB Rock Products approached the Field Engineering Services team of Mobil for assistance. After conducting detailed studies, Mobil’s team suggested the use of Mobilgrease XHPâ„ 462 Moly â€ a lithium complex grease with high viscosity base oil, that can help provide very good pin wear protection, and long re-greasing intervals. Thereafter, daily monitoring was conducted through thermal imaging and inspections, and a strict schedule was followed for new greasing intervals. The switch to Mobilgrease XHP 462 Moly increased re-greasing interval from 4 times a day to 2 times a day, improved productivity, and curtailed downtime. AB Rock Products was also able to lower man-machine interactions by 320 hours, decrease grease consumption by 800 kg, and register improved productivity earnings of Rs.1,74,096 with less downtime.Innovation at MobilThe construction industry forms a key sector of interest and duly, Mobil has developed a range of solutions that meet the sector’s many functional demands. For instance, the Mobilgrease XHPâ„ 460 Series greases have been formulated for a wide variety of heavy-duty applications and operating conditions. These extended service lithium complex greases were designed to outperform conventional products by applying high-performance lithium complex manufacturing technology. They provide excellent high temperature performance with superior adhesion, structural stability, and resistance to water contamination. These greases have a high level of chemical stability and offer excellent protection against rust and corrosion. They use specially selected additives to provide excellent oxidation stability, rust and corrosion control, resistance to water contamination as well as anti-wear and EP protection. The Mobilgrease XHP 462 Moly, a part of the series, is fortified with 3 per cent molybdenum disulphide and is particularly recommended for applications such as bucket pins and fifth wheels.Mobil’s solutions seek to ease everyday operations and strengthen long-term performance. The construction industry is poised to take promising leaps â€ and opting for the most precise technology solutions can go a long way in ensuring growth with stability in the sector.(Exxon Mobil Corporation has numerous affiliates, many with names that include Exxon Mobil, Exxon, Esso and Mobil.
