DDA promotes affordable housing, will dispose group housing projects

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved the disposal of group housing projects for constructing small houses of up to 60 sq m on a freehold basis through an e-auction, to promote affordable housing in Delhi.

DDA told the media that due to the increasing trend of decrease of family member sizes, single-parent family, elderly couples, such houses will provide for the demands of 40-60 sqm affordable housing.

They thought there should be a different category for smaller houses, which are cheaper than the two or three-bedroom house flats.

And could easily be purchased by the lower middle class, low-income, and small family people.

The small format houses are in the order with National Housing Policy (NHP).

DDA can also sell some of the plots in the high demand sectors since the group housing plots for developing small houses, flats with 60 sqm area are without any limitations on the eligibility rules for the buyers and fixation of the cost by DDA.
