Madhya Pradesh industries department plans to carry out a satellite survey of lands and begin with over 20,000 acres of land for the proposed mega-investment region between Bhopal and Indore.

The department would prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed investment region and international airport in consultation with the experts and consultants from the aviation and industries sector.

Principal Secretary of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Department and Chairman MP Industrial Development Corporation Limited (MPIDC) Sanjay Kumar Shukla said this is a mega project to come up in MP and is expected to generate over two lakh employment opportunities. Officials said experts from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) would visit Indore to share technical inputs regarding the proposed airport with local authorities.

AAI will meet local officials and give suggestions to the team for the proposed international airport.

The development of this mega industrial region and an international airport has received in-principle approval from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the Minister of Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Officials said that the proposal for the mega project was presented before the CM, and after receiving approval, the plan was presented to Scindia.

Executive director MPIDC, Rohan Saxena, said that the department has started to look for land parcels between Sonkatch and Astha for the proposed investment region. Initial works have already begun, and the department is in the process to hire consultants and experts from the aviation sector.
