Chandigarh Housing Board to tender Sector 53 Housing Scheme

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) is prepared to launch a tender to construct its ambitious housing scheme in Sector 53 by the second week of July, with the technical sanction of all financial estimates.

It was announced that the process would be carried out through E-Tender and the successful bidder would be granted approximately two years to build the flats on a 9-acre plot of land in the southern part of the city.

The housing project, which will be developed by the CHB after a gap of over six years since their last housing project in Sector 51 in 2016, will include a dedicated Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) for the treatment of sewage generated in the housing complex. Additionally, the housing society will feature a green belt and generator backup facilities.

All these details have already been documented during the construction process. Sources revealed that the technical sanction of the financial estimates is a crucial part of the project, where construction items and related works are meticulously examined, and financial approvals are granted accordingly. Senior officers are overseeing the planning of this important project, and if everything goes as planned, the tender process is expected to commence in a couple of weeks.

The housing scheme will consist of a total of 372 flats, including 192 three BHKs, 100 two BHKs, and 80 EWS category flats. The number of EWS flats was initially 48 but was later increased to 80. With the financial estimates already determined, the project's estimated cost is around Rs 214 crores.

To ensure a convenient and straightforward application process, the authority has opted for an online application system. A helpdesk will be available at the CHB to assist people with their online applications.

The tentative cost of the housing scheme will be recovered through five equated installments.
