Delhi civic body launches mobile app for geo-tagging

An official claimed that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi introduced a mobile app on Monday that allows property owners to geotag their own properties. According to them, Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Bharti introduced the "MCD App" to bring about a more transparent and accommodating property tax system.

The MCD said in a statement that geotagging taxpayer-owned assets will enable better service delivery to citizens and will give location-wise identification of individual homes.

According to officials, geotagging refers to the process of assigning specific coordinates鈥攍atitude and longitude鈥攖o a property on a GIS map by comparing the current location to any UPIC (Unique Property Identification Code) in order to identify all properties' locations in relation to the specific position.

According to the announcement, people are urged to finish geotagging their property as soon as possible in order to support Delhi's development.

On an Android phone, the mobile app can be downloaded via the Google Play Store or by going to the MCD website. Within the next two weeks, the iOS platform will have access to the facility. At the event were Additional Commissioner (Engineering) Sakshi Mittal, Assessor and Collector Kunal Kashyap, Director (IT) Sumit Kumar, and other top MCD officials.
