Over 1.22 lakh homes in Prayagraj handed over under PMAY and MMAY

More than 1.22 lakh people in rural regions of Prayagraj district, from 2016 onwards, have received homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (MMAY).
Of these, 1,14,189 people have benefited under PMAY, and 8569 people have benefited under MMAY since 2016. As per the Project Director of the district rural development authority, KK Singh, the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) is for the poor who have their land but cannot afford to build a house. Under PMAY, homeless, poor families, among others, are qualified to apply.
The advantage of the scheme is available to those people whose monthly salary is lower than Rs 10,000. A monetary benefit of Rs 1.20 lakhs is provided to such people under the scheme.
The scheme was rolled out in 2016-17, and 1,14,189 people have been provided homes under this scheme in the district, and a budget of more than Rs 1,370 crore has been allocated for the scheme.
The Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana was commenced in 2018-19. Although under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, homeless people of the general category can apply too, the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana requires several conditions to be fulfilled. Under the MMAY scheme, families are provided benefits whose homes have collapsed due to any natural disaster. People of Musahar, Vantangia, Sahariya,Kol and Tharu caste are also given benefits from this scheme. So far, 8569 people have been given houses under the scheme since 2016-17. Each beneficiary is provided Rs 1.20 lakhs for building the house.
An amount of more than Rs 102 crore has been shelled out under this scheme. According to the year-wise data available, 253 houses were constructed under the scheme 2018-19, 1381 in 2019-20, 2451 in 2020-21 and 4484 in 2021-22. Concerning the application procedure, the official notified that people who have land but do not have homes could apply under the scheme.
It is checked by the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA), after which the registration takes place at the block headquarters, and then the priority list is made. After the priority list, its details are given to the government, after which the budget is issued.
