Hitachi Vantara Named Leader in AI Storage Solutions

Hitachi Vantara, the data storage and hybrid cloud management arm of Hitachi Ltd., has been named a Leader and Fast Mover in the 2025 GigaOm Radar for High-Performance Storage Optimised for AI Workloads. This marks the debut edition of the report, which evaluates enterprise-grade storage solutions designed to meet the complex demands of artificial intelligence and machine learning environments.

The recognition underscores Hitachi Vantara’s ability to deliver robust, scalable, and future-ready storage infrastructure. The company’s Hitachi iQ portfolio stood out for its enterprise-class performance, workload isolation, and intelligent data management capabilities.

In particular, the GigaOm report highlighted three core strengths of the Hitachi iQ platform:

  • Quality of Service and Workload Isolation: Hitachi iQ was praised for offering world-class resource allocation through file system-level policies and a flexible cluster architecture, ensuring consistent performance for high-priority AI and machine learning applications, even in shared environments.
  • GPU-Direct Storage Integration: Optimised drivers enable efficient data movement between storage and GPU memory, significantly enhancing AI/ML workload performance.
  • AI-Optimised Data Layout: Automated data placement across TLC/QLC NVMe flash and object storage, guided by real-time monitoring and user-defined policies, allows the platform to balance cost and performance effectively.

GigaOm analyst and field CTO Whit Walters said, “Hitachi Vantara has delivered a well-integrated, scalable platform in Hitachi iQ, backed by proven storage. This combination provides organisations with a powerful base for scaling AI operations as workloads become more demanding.

The report also commended Hitachi Vantara’s strategic roadmap, including its collaboration with NVIDIA for the NVIDIA Data Platform on Hitachi iQ. The upcoming Hitachi iQ M Series, announced in March 2025, and integration with the Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) were also cited as evidence of the company’s forward-looking innovation.

Chief Product Officer Octavian Tanase commented, “AI is reshaping infrastructure demands. With Hitachi iQ and its integration with VSP One, we’re giving enterprises a high-performance, flexible foundation that evolves with their AI ambitions.

The accolade follows several recent achievements for the company. In May 2025, Hitachi Vantara received the Sustainable Technology Award at the Global Tech & AI Awards for its VSP One Block solution. Earlier in the year, it was named a Leader and Outperformer in GigaOm’s Radar for Primary Storage for its hybrid cloud data platform, VSP One.

This recognition positions Hitachi Vantara at the forefront of high-performance AI-ready storage, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, scalability, and sustainable data infrastructure.
