UPS to spend up to $20 million on its first India tech centre

It is the scale at which work is done, and technology is at the heart of it, with the majority of the technology-based in Europe and the United States. What we are currently constructing in India is a technology development centre that will effectively support and contribute to the creation of capabilities that have already been applied both worldwide," said Bala Subramanian, EVP and chief digital and technology officer, UPS

This building, which will open in August of this year, will have a capacity of 450-500 personnel. The employment process will begin soon and will eventually employ 1,000 people. UPS intends to run the facility at full capacity by 2025.

According to Bala Subramian, the centre would primarily cater to operational technology and interface technologies such as financial, HR, and legal competence.
