Aadhaar Logs 2.11 Billion Authentications in May

Aadhaar number holders completed over 2.11 billion authentication transactions in May 2025, pushing the cumulative total to more than 152.23 billion since the system's inception, according to data released by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
This marks a notable increase over both April 2025 and May 2024, which recorded 2.01 billion authentications. The continued growth highlights Aadhaar's expanding role in digital governance, efficient welfare delivery, and as a key enabler of ease of living for millions across India.
The UIDAI reported that its AI/ML-powered face authentication solutions also showed steady adoption, with 154.9 million face authentication transactions recorded in May. This reflects a rising acceptance of biometric technologies that offer secure and convenient access to services.
Over 100 government departments, financial institutions, telecom operators, and oil marketing companies are now leveraging face authentication to streamline service delivery.
In addition, May 2025 saw more than 3.7 billion electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) transactions conducted. Aadhaar-based e-KYC remains instrumental in enhancing customer experience and supporting the ease of doing business, particularly in the banking and financial services sectors.
The increasing reliance on Aadhaar for digital authentication and e-KYC demonstrates its pivotal role in advancing India's digital economy and inclusive access to essential services.
