Amit Shah Reviews Progress of Key National Cooperative Institutions

Union ÑDz©ÌåÓý¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³ Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah chaired a high-level review of National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) and Bharatiya Beej Sahkari Samiti Limited (BBSSL). These institutions, formed in two thousand twenty-three under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aim to strengthen cooperative-led exports, organic farming and seed development.

Amit Shah directed NCEL to explore export potential of sugar, aromatic rice, organic cotton and coarse grains, and set a target of Rs two trillion in exports. NCEL achieved a turnover of Rs 4.28 Bn and Rs one hundred twenty-two Mn in net profit in financial year two thousand twenty-four to twenty-five. It has expanded exports to twenty-eight countries and signed sixty-one agreements with importers.

NCOL, supplying to brands like Amul and Bigbasket, was assigned a turnover target of over Rs three hundred Mn for financial year 2025-26. Its 'Bharat Organics' brand focuses on authenticity and sustainability, with QR-coded pesticide test reports for consumers.

BBSSL was praised for its role in strengthening India’s seed ecosystem. It will focus on crops with high yield and low water needs. A tissue culture facility and breeder seed coordination are planned to ensure availability of quality inputs.
