Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated three multi-storey parking facilities on Wednesday for public use, located at the Civil Secretariat, ESS Sector, and the APST Bus Station in Ganga Market.
The facility at the Civil Secretariat is a 10-storey building, featuring four basement levels for parking, with the ground floor functioning as the entry and exit point. The four floors above the ground level are dedicated to parking spaces, while the top floor hosts a cafeteria and a gymnasium.
Built under the Itanagar Smart City initiative by NHIDCL at an approximate cost of Rs 18.09 crore, the facility can house 108 cars across eight towers. It includes modern features like a control room, waiting area, elevators, power backup, drainage, and mechanical ventilation.
The ESS Sector parking lot, constructed by the Urban Development & Housing Department (UD&H) for Rs 14.71 crore, will cater to employees and visitors of the Directorate of Higher Education, Directorate of Elementary Education, and Mallo Tarin Higher Secondary School, as well as local residents.
The APST Bus Station parking lot, also built by UD&H for Rs 14.71 crore, is intended to meet the parking needs of market-goers and hotel visitors, among others.
Speaking at the event, Khandu congratulated the public on the launch of the new parking facilities and expressed confidence that they would alleviate traffic congestion caused by indiscriminate roadside parking.
