BHEL Signs MoU With Nuovo

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nuovo Pignone International, a Baker Hughes company, to collaborate on compressor revamp solutions for the fertiliser sector. The long-term agreement aims to modernise and upgrade legacy equipment used in Indian fertiliser plants, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability.

The collaboration leverages BHEL’s strong domestic engineering and manufacturing base with Nuovo Pignone’s advanced compressor technology. This strategic partnership will enable localised production and servicing of compressors, reducing dependence on imports and supporting India’s Make in India initiative. Through this MoU, both companies will jointly identify projects involving revamp, replacement, and maintenance of aged compressors in fertiliser units. These efforts are expected to improve energy efficiency and extend the life of critical infrastructure in one of India’s key industrial sectors.

The deal also includes knowledge sharing and skill development components, aiming to build local capabilities in high-end compressor technology. This move is aligned with BHEL’s broader strategy to diversify its offerings beyond the traditional power sector. The partnership is anticipated to unlock new business opportunities, strengthen India's industrial self-reliance, and contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.
