Delhi Adds 25 Low-Cost EV Charging Stations in Green Push

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia inaugurated 25 affordable EV charging stations in Mayur Vihar Phase-1. This initiative aligns with the Delhi government鈥檚 efforts to combat pollution, promote electric vehicles, and cement the city鈥檚 status as India鈥檚 EV capital.

Speaking at the event, Atishi underscored the administration's commitment to sustainability. 鈥淒elhi now boasts of more than 2,400 EV charging points, offering the lowest rates in the country. It is the reason why 12% of all new vehicles registered in Delhi are electric鈥� she said, adding that the city also boasts the second-largest fleet of electric buses globally.

The new stations, managed by Delhi Transco Limited, bring the number of government-operated charging points to 78. Sisodia hailed the development as a pivotal step toward green mobility. 鈥淭hese charging stations are the power banks of a modern Delhi. Despite challenges, we achieved 12% EV adoption among new vehicles and aim for 25% by 2025,鈥� he said.

Delhi鈥檚 comprehensive EV policy continues to position the capital as a model for sustainable urban development in India.
