DMC appeals for help in achieving cleaner, greener Dimapur

W Manpai Phom, Administrator, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), appealed to all residents of the city to support the council's endeavours to improve cleanliness standards. In a statement made to Nagaland Post, Manpai asserted that the state government and DMC had initiated a comprehensive program to enhance Dimapur's hygiene standards. He revealed that multiple cleanliness drives and drainage cleaning operations had been launched, demonstrating the authorities' dedication to this cause.

He identified the improper disposal of waste into drainage systems as a significant factor leading to recurrent flooding issues in the city. Considering this, he stressed the crucial role of individual responsibility in addressing this pressing problem. He urged citizens not to discard waste into drains and instead actively participate in maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.

Manpai emphasised the seriousness of the challenge posed by clogged drains. He highlighted the necessity for collective action from every responsible citizen of Dimapur and called for unity and shared responsibility in the joint effort toward a cleaner and more environmentally conscious city.

Addressing waste segregation, he emphasised the importance of households in this process. He pointed out that such practices directly influenced the working conditions and health of sanitation workers.

The DMC administrator urged all residents to join forces with the council in transforming Dimapur into a city that epitomised cleanliness and environmental responsibility. He expressed hope that this appeal would resonate with the residents, ensuring a future where problems related to garbage, plastic waste, and blocked drainage systems would become things of the past.
