EV Chargers to Be Installed at 49 MTDC Resorts

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at forty-nine of its resorts across the state, including locations in Mumbai, Pune and other key destinations. The initiative aims to promote sustainable and eco-friendly tourism.

The project began with four chargers now operational at the Gangapur Dam resorts in Nashik. Each resort will have two units, capable of charging up to four electric vehicles simultaneously. Private operators will manage the infrastructure under ten-year leases to ensure long-term maintenance and efficiency.

The chargers will be distributed strategically across Maharashtra. Nagpur will receive 13 units, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg ten each, Pune nine, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar seven, and Mumbai six. Additional stations will be installed at Bhandardara and Shirdi in Nashik district.

With bids opening on 5th June, this effort aligns with the state’s broader push for electric mobility. The network is expected to reduce emissions from travel and offer greater convenience to tourists using EVs. It also supports Maharashtra’s clean transport vision by integrating charging access into popular travel destinations.
