In a landmark move, India has hosted the 15th Plenary Meeting of the ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence (JTC 1/SC 42), with over 350 global experts from 70 countries converging in New Delhi to deliberate on international AI standardisation.
During the inauguration, Smt. Nidhi Khare, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, emphasised India's readiness to take on a greater role in shaping global AI standards. She underscored the government鈥檚 commitment to responsibly advancing Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs), rooted in inclusive, context-aware, and locally adaptable frameworks.
