Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has expanded its solar power capacity by 30 megawatt-peak (MWp), with new projects commissioned at its Kharkhoda and Manesar facilities. A 20MWp solar installation has been launched at the company鈥檚 new plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, while an additional 10MWp has been added at Manesar. This takes MSIL鈥檚 total installed solar capacity to 79MWp, up from 49MWp a year ago.

By FY2030鈥31, MSIL aims to raise its total solar power capacity to 319MWp, backed by an investment exceeding Rs 9.25 billion. The company also plans to achieve 85 per cent of its total electricity consumption from renewable sources by that year.

Mr Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, 鈥淎ligned with Suzuki Motor Corporation鈥檚 Environment Vision 2050 and the Government of India鈥檚 renewable energy goals, we are systematically enhancing the use of clean energy in our operations. As we scale production to four million units, our energy practices will evolve accordingly.鈥

He emphasised that the latest solar expansion represents a vital step towards building a sustainable energy ecosystem and supports Maruti Suzuki鈥檚 broader environmental vision. The company's initiatives contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #7, which focuses on affordable and clean energy.

MSIL continues to integrate green manufacturing practices across its operations, reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability.
