PM Modi to inaugurate RAPIDX: A leap in India's urban transit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 17-km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut regional rapid transit system, known as RAPIDX on October 20. This event marks the commencement of a modern and swifter mode of urban transportation. Reports suggest that the inaugural journey from Sahibabad to Duhai might be piloted by women, a significant milestone in the country's transportation history, coinciding with the revered Navratri celebration that honors feminine power.

The inauguration follows months of anticipation since the corridor received the final safety clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) in June. Although this initial stretch might not drastically impact commuting, its initiation signifies a notable advancement in connecting urban areas within the public transport network. RAPIDX is poised to become India's fastest urban transit system, boasting a maximum operational speed of 160 kmph and an average speed of 100 kmph, surpassing both Metro trains and the majority of Indian Railways' mail and express trains.

Additionally, the NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), overseeing the project, will launch its mobile app "RAPIDX CONNECT" on the same day. Moreover, the indigenous platform screen corridor will be virtually introduced. During the event, the NCRTC is expected to present a preview of the upcoming Sarai Kale Khan terminus in Delhi, which will serve as the central station linking all future RRTS corridors, connecting Panipat and Alwar. This development marks a significant leap forward in the realm of public transportation, promising efficiency and speed for urban commuters.
