Haryana 亚博体育官网首页 Minister and local MLA, Anil Vij told the media that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for the construction of a domestic terminal at the Ambala airport.
The airport project has been taken up under the central government's Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik (UDAN) 3.0 scheme to boost regional air connectivity.
According to an official, the terminal will come close to Mama-Bhanja Peer on Jagadhri road, from where the passengers will be taken on a taxiway to board the plane. The air force strip will be used for flight operations.
After two years of delay due to the selection of land, the officials of the district administration, Airports Authority of India (AAI), and Cantonment Board Ambala met and agreed on the land selection and gates of the airport.
The officials agreed to transfer 15 acres of empty defense land close to the air force station. The first gate of the airport will open on Jagadhri road and the other inside the airforce station to safeguard flight operations.
Vij met the Minister of Defense, Rajnath Singh, in New Delhi and defense officials in Ambala and Chandigarh to resolve the deadlock.
The air force station in Ambala is home to Rafale and Jaguar aircraft, which are crucial for the armed forces amid tensions with Pakistan and China.
The district administration identified land parcels in Dankaur, Dhulkot, Garnala and Barnala, but was unable to proceed due to some issues.
Deputy Commissioner of Ambala, Vikram Yadav, visited the site and had asked the officials of the proposed airport to speed up the airport project.
