Deoghar airport to start its operations soon

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has now completed the construction of the Deoghar airport, and the operations will commence soon once the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) completes the technical no objection certificate (NOC) formalities and trials.

This airport will be the second airport in the state of Jharkhand after Ranchi. It is spread across a vast area of 650 acres. The design of the terminal building is based on the structure of Baba Baidyanath Temple. The terminal building showcases tribal art paintings, handicrafts, and local tourist sites.

The terminal has beautiful architecture with modern facilities which include 24-hour medical assistance for passengers. The handling capacity of the airport during the peak hour is 200 passengers.

Deoghar Airport Director, Sandeep Kumar Dhingra said that the Deoghar Airport is a domestic airport, the Airbus A- 320 and A- 321 can land on a runway. The length of the runway is 2,500 meters and the width is 45 meters. It comprises four parking bases for A- 320 and A- 321. There are six check-in counters, one departure conveyor, and two arrival conveyor belts. The security equipment, X-rays, and CCTVs are also installed inside the terminal.

The regional connectivity in Jharkhand will receive a major boost with the construction of this new airport in Deoghar. It will further enhance tourism and open new trade opportunities for the region which is particularly dominated by the tribal people.
