Drone scheme for mapping land in Gujarat does not see implementation

A central government scheme of Gujarat for providing property cards to the people living in villages by mapping land through drone technology failed to take off.

According to the data provided by the central government, no drones flying were seen in any of the villages in Gujarat and therefore, no property cards have been issued to the villagers yet.

Recently, in a Lok Sabha meeting, MP of Gujarat, Mohanlal Kundariya, queried about the Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) scheme implementation.

He asked the session about the number of talukas selected under the drone scheme in Gujarat and the allocated funds under the SVAMITVA scheme.

He also sought the details of when the mapping of lands would be completed, mainly in Rajkot and Sabarkantha.

Minister of Panchayati Raj, Kapil Moreshwar Patil, said that the drone scheme will be implemented in all the villages of Gujarat between 2021 to 2022 and 2023 to 2024.
