Melstarr Aviations Tech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Melstarr Information Technologies, has announced its entry into the aviation training sector with plans to establish a modern Flight Training Organisation (FTO) in Karnataka.
The company has committed an initial investment of Rs 3 billion, making it one of the largest private sector ventures in India鈥檚 pilot training industry. According to Tarun Kashyap, Chief Operating Officer of MATPL, the first phase will see Rs 1 billion invested, with the remainder to be scaled up over the next three years.
The Karnataka-based FTO will offer training on next-generation aircraft, immersive flight simulators, and a globally benchmarked curriculum. Designed to create a pool of highly skilled aviation professionals, the facility is expected to generate between 60 and 100 direct jobs and begin phased operations in 2025.
In February, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka, aligning with the state鈥檚 vision to strengthen India鈥檚 aviation training ecosystem and reduce reliance on overseas pilot training.
The facility will cater to aspiring pilots, airlines, corporates, and government agencies. Course offerings will include Commercial Pilot Licence training, recurrent certification, and programmes compliant with DGCA and global standards.
Melstarr Aviations Tech aims to position India as a global aviation education hub by leveraging cutting-edge technology, strategic partnerships, and robust infrastructure to deliver world-class flight training.
