Patna Gets Modern Airport Terminal, Bihta Enclave Planned

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal at Patna鈥檚 Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport and laid the foundation stone for a Civil Enclave at Bihta, marking a significant milestone for air connectivity in Bihar. Developed at a cost of Rs 12 billion, the terminal spans over 65,150 square metres and can handle up to ten million passengers annually.

Equipped with 64 check-in counters, five aerobridges, and a multilevel parking facility for 1,100 cars, the facility also incorporates Mithila art and architecture inspired by Nalanda Mahavihara. It targets a four-star GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) rating with sustainable features like LED lighting and insulated roofing.

At Bihta, a new terminal covering 68,000 square metres has been planned with an estimated cost of Rs 14.13 billion. Designed for five million passengers per year, it will draw architectural cues from the Mauryan and Gupta eras and aims for a five-star GRIHA rating.

These projects are set to drive trade, tourism, and employment in the region, reflecting the government's broader Viksit Bharat vision for infrastructure-led development.
