Airport officials have announced plans to improve the Prayagraj airport in Bamrauli to accommodate the influx of devotees and tourists expected for the Mahakumbh 2025 religious fair. According to officials, In view of the large number of devotees and tourists expected to arrive, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) is set to launch a tender for the construction of a new building that will expand the airport's facilities. The new building will cover 9,500 square metres and have the capacity to handle up to 250 passengers at a time. Director (regional) AAI, Prayagraj, RR Pandey stated, The proposed new set-up would be spread over 9500 square metres with a new building, catering up to 250 passengers who arrive and depart from our airport. The new building will also include four new aero bridges, taking the total number of aero bridges at the airport to six, he added. There would also be three parking bays for accommodating aircraft of Airbus 320 class. The officials also shared that Another taxiway and a separate apron for smaller aircraft will also be constructed, and the parking facilities for cars, buses, two-wheelers, and taxi services will be extended. When the upcoming facilities were combined with the existing infrastructure, the Prayagraj airport will be able to handle up to 400 passengers at any given time. The Prayagraj airport currently serves 11 cities, with IndiGo and Alliance Air providing services to Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow, Delhi, Dehradun, and Bilaspur. The officials added that the new facilities will further enhance the airport's capabilities and will make it easier for devotees and tourists to travel to and from the Mahakumbh 2025.
