Purandar Airport land acquisition decision imminent

The state government and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation are set to finalize a land acquisition plan for the Purandar airport within the next eight days, according to Industries Minister Uday Samant. He announced that he, along with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, will review three models in the coming days. Once a model is chosen, MIDC will commence land acquisition.

Samant outlined three options for land acquisition:

MIDC acquires land, transfers it to industrialists who pay the government, which then compensates landowners. The government purchases the land directly, later recouping costs from industrialists. MIDC acquires land and directly provides it to industrialists. The project will require around 3,000 acres across seven villages in Purandar. In June, the DGCA approved the airport. Additionally, Samant mentioned that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed him to address compliance issues with Mercedes Benz India after a notice from the MPCB. He confirmed that all necessary compliance measures have been completed. The land near Chakan for the Vedanta-Foxconn project has also been allocated by MIDC for logistics facilities.
