UP Govt to Construct 20-Km Bharat Path in Ayodhya

The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed constructing a new corridor called Bharat Path in Ayodhya, connecting Bharatkund, the sacred site associated with Lord Ram’s brother Bharat, to the Ram temple. The project will develop a twenty-kilometre road stretch at an estimated cost of Rs nine billion.

This spiritual corridor aims to enhance Ayodhya’s status as a global religious and cultural hub by offering devotees improved access and a deeper experience. The Public Works Department has submitted the detailed project report for approval, and work will begin once authorisation is received.

Currently, the route is a two-lane road starting at Ranopali railway crossing along Ram Path, extending to Bharatkund via Vidyakund and Darshannagar on the Prayagraj highway. The plan includes widening the road to nine-metre lanes on both sides with a two-point-five metre central divider to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow.

Following the Ram temple’s construction, the number of devotees visiting Ayodhya has surged, prompting multiple infrastructure projects such as widening key routes like Ram Path, Bhakti Path, Janmabhoomi Path, and Panchkosi and Chaudashkosi Parikrama routes.

Floodlights will be installed along Bharat Path to provide proper illumination. The corridor will offer devotees easier and safer access to the sacred site of Bharatkund, known for its mythological significance and spiritual heritage.
