Ashok Leyland MD and CEO Vipin Sondhi steps down from his position

Heavy vehicles manufacturer Ashok Leyland told the media that the company's managing director and CEO Vipin Sondhi will step down from his position.

In a statement, Leyland told the media that Sondhi has stated his intention to give more time to take care of specific personal and family commitments in the post-Covid-19 pandemic situation that needs his extended presence in New Delhi.

He will resign on December 31. To help in business continuity and a seamless transition, the board has asked Dheeraj Hinduja to step in as Executive Chairman with immediate effect. The board will meet soon to decide on the further course of action for recognising the next CEO and MD.

Sondhi told the media that his decision is a personal one as he has to take care of his personal and family obligations, which have become a top priority. Working with the Hinduja Family and the leadership team at Ashok Leyland has been an enriching experience. Sondhi joined the firm in December 2019. Before that, he was the CEO of construction equipment firm JCB India.
