Mysore residents face inconvenience due to road work

Adichunchanagiri road in Kuvempunagar of Mysore is being widened. Mysore's urban development body, MUDA launched the works a year back. While a part of the road is widened and asphalted, some 70 per cent of the road that is widened is not asphalted though MUDA commissioner's official residence is located on the stretch.

Surprisingly, the patch where the commissioner's residence is located is done neatly while the rest is not attended which is affecting vehicular movement. Motorists are facing problem owing to the delay in the completion of the works.

Even pedestrians are greatly inconvenienced due to uneven pedestrian space and incomplete road works. They are unable to walk on footpath space or on the road because road widening work is yet to be finished. After widening, the road has been leveled with stones but not asphalted.

The area residents say only a part of road widening work is complete that too up to MUDA commissioner's house. The work started almost a year ago is going at a snail's pace. Now again they have started work of relaying the footpath since a week but don't know how long the project will take time.

The footpath space is not pedestrians friendly because all along the stretch there is cutting of footpath space near houses, shops and hospital, they complain. It is quite difficult for people especially for aged ones to step down and step up while walking on footpath space.
