Adani to build 48 billion Kedarnath ropeway under PPP model

The upcoming Sonprayag鈥揋aurikund鈥揔edarnath ropeway is expected to become a key revenue source for the government, with no upfront investment required. Adani Enterprises, the lowest bidder for the 48 billion project, has proposed to share nearly 42 per cent of fare collections with the Centre.

The 13-km ropeway, which will cut travel time to Kedarnath from over 8 hours to just 36 minutes, is expected to see heavy footfall due to the area's religious significance.

Out of four bidders, three proposed revenue-sharing models with the National Highway Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML), the nodal agency under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The Union Cabinet recently cleared the Rs 40.81 billion ropeway under a public-private partnership (PPP) structure. The project will be developed by the private player, while the government will benefit from a fixed share of the fare revenue once operations begin.
