Assam Unveils New Milestone with Ambitious Brahmaputra Bridge Project

In a significant step forward for Assam's road infrastructure, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in the Bhumi Pujan ceremony for the Palashbari-Sualkuchi bridge across the Brahmaputra River. This event marks the beginning of a pivotal project expected to greatly enhance transportation within the state.

During the event, Sarma reminisced about the foundation stone ceremony conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2023, where key projects such as AIIMS, a petrochemical project in Naharkatia, and the Dhola-Sadiya bridge were also unveiled. Sarma spoke of the new bridge’s potential to improve connectivity between Assam's northern and southern regions, easing logistical challenges and opening up vital areas for easier access. The bridge, with a span of 3.6 kilometers and connecting roads, is set for completion by June 2028.

The bridge is part of a larger series of infrastructure initiatives, including the Indian Institute of Management in Palashbari and the Bogibeel bridge, along with new connectivity projects like the bridge linking Jorhat and Majuli. The Chief Minister also mentioned the planned elevated corridor for wildlife protection in Kaziranga and various developments in the Barak Valley, which will promote regional growth and sustainability.

Sarma emphasized that the state’s progress, particularly in infrastructure, is directly aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, fostering growth and development. The bridge’s completion will mark a milestone in Assam’s transformation into a model of development.
