Bengaluru-Vijayawada Greenfield Corridor to be built for Rs 136 bn

The union government intends to construct a Greenfield Access Controlled Corridor that will connect Vijayawada and Bengaluru. The expressway will reduce travel distance by 75 km and travel time by five hours between two major towns in the southern states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh (AP).

The Greenfield Access Controlled Corridor Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada is part of the Bengaluru-Vijayawada Expressway project. The four- to six-lane roadway will be gated, with feeder roads linking at crucial spots.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Transport Minister, claimed in a tweet that the route will connect the two cities via Kadapa (AP). The corridor would connect existing and future commercial and industrial centres such as Guntur, Kadapa, and Koparthy.

The construction of the 342 km Greenfield Highway will cost Rs 136 billion.
