In a move to enhance road infrastructure in Patna, the Bihar government has planned a 9.09-km elevated road connecting Saristabad and AIIMS-Patna along the New Bypass. The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for approval. The project entails a Rs 13 billion investment.
The elevated four-lane corridor, expected to be completed within four years of commencement, will provide direct connectivity between Saristabad and AIIMS-Patna via Beur More, Anisabad, and AIIMS roundabout. The project aims to decongest traffic and offer a cost-effective solution for commuters traveling from Gaya and nearby regions.
The plan includes Rs 9 billion for civil work, while the remainder covers land acquisition and other expenses. Strategic access ramps will ensure smooth entry and exit at key locations, including Anisabad, enhancing commuter convenience.
Revised from an earlier 7-km plan, the updated design extends the route by over 2 km for improved efficiency. It also integrates modern construction techniques like segmental girders for structural resilience. The elevated road will seamlessly connect with existing infrastructure, such as the Sipara-AIIMS stretch and Patli Path, providing uninterrupted routes to Naubatpur, Bihta, Paliganj, and Bikram.
