BMC will install smart lanes on 14 roadways

14 city roads would be converted by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) into "smart stretches" at an anticipated cost of Rs 570 million.

Internal roads longer than 500 metres will be redeveloped, adding footpaths on both sides, green spaces, and drainage systems specifically designed for them. The civic authority conducted a survey, and based on the length and breadth of the roadways, it determined that they were suitable for transformation.

The combined length of the 14 roads is 26 km. 13 km of internal roads in the K-2 and K-3 sections of Kalinga Vihar will be converted into smart roads out of this total. According to the needs, the remaining half is being developed in different wards.

Drains with concrete slab tops will have permanent covers to prevent accidents, while internal roadways will have a better aesthetic and additional amenities for residents.
