Chandigarh civic body identifies 431 km road for recarpeting

The engineering department of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) has identified 431 km length of roads to be recarpeted at Rs 75 crore starting from April.

These roads include internal and external stretches, parking areas, and market spots. The MCC engineering department will float a tender soon, setting the target to allocate the works to be started soon in April. The recarpeting work has been divided into three divisions.

The road division I has 162.64 km of roads, road division II has 124.85 km of roads and division III has a total of 142.46 km long roads.

Each road division will be headed by an executive engineer rank officer for monitoring the work progress.The field officer will inspect and check the quality of material used and other necessary parameters.

The money to be spent for the road recarpeting works will be from the next financial year鈥檚 approved budget, against which the finance department of the Union Territory (UT) administration has already approved Rs 545 crore grant-in-aid.
