Delhi Ashram flyover ramp set to open for traffic soon

Delhi Public Works Department has completed the construction of the upward ramp from Sarai Kale Khan to the Ashram flyover extension. It will be opened to traffic soon. The ramp is an important part of the flyover extension project, but the work on it was delayed for a few months after traffic was allowed on the new extension. The ramp will allow vehicles coming from Sarai Kale Khan to climb on to the flyover and go towards Lajpat Nagar and further south.

After the extended facility's opening in March this year, the loop ramp was being built for some months until the work was halted for lack of funds. In May, PWD minister Atishi had claimed that the work would be completed in five days, but it was only on Wednesday that an official announced,

"The work is almost complete. We are now giving the finishing touches and there are minor works on the road that will be carried out as soon as there is a break from the rain. We hope to open the ramp to traffic soon."

The road is currently barricaded and the public is not allowed to use it. The painting of the sidewalls of the ramp in black and white and the erection of streetlights have also been accomplished. Due to this closed ramp commuters coming from ITO, North Delhi areas or from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway are unable to use the loop and the traffic load on the Ring Road continues to be high.
