Gadkari announces Rs 2 tn investment for Uttarakhand's roads

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari revealed that the Central government plans to allocate Rs 2 trillion for the enhancement of road infrastructure in Uttarakhand. Gadkari, addressing the audience during the inauguration of national highway projects worth over Rs 20 billion in Tanakpur, disclosed that the current investment in Uttarakhand's road infrastructure stands at Rs 14 million, with an additional Rs 600 million earmarked for imminent inclusion, bringing the total expenditure to Rs 2 trillion.

Expressing his commitment, Gadkari declared in the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that by the conclusion of 2024, Uttarakhand's national highways would meet international standards, resembling those found in the United States. He highlighted the remarkable growth in the state's national highway network, which has expanded from 2,517 km in 2014 to 3,608 km.

Chief Minister Dhami expressed gratitude for the long-awaited projects initiated at Tanakpur, acknowledging Gadkari's proactive role in their realisation. He commended Gadkari's unwavering support for Uttarakhand's development, noting that assistance is readily provided even before it is formally requested. The projects initiated are expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the Manaskhand region. ?
