Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved three high-priority infrastructure projects across Jharkhand and Bihar, with a combined investment of Rs 33.30 billion. These initiatives aim to enhance connectivity and improve traffic flow, contributing to the economic growth of the eastern region of India. Elevated Flyovers on NH-19 in Jharkhand In Jharkhand鈥檚 Dhanbad district, two six-lane elevated flyovers will be constructed on the Barwa Adda-Panagarh stretch in the Nirsa and Gobindpur areas of National Highway-19 (NH-19). The project, valued at Rs 11.31 billion, includes the rehabilitation of existing footpaths and will bypass the heavily congested grade junctions at Nirsa. This will reduce traffic congestion and streamline the flow of vehicles, especially for commuters traveling between Jharkhand and West Bengal. The flyovers are expected to offer a significant boost to the region's infrastructure, providing smoother connectivity for long-distance and local traffic alike. Four-Lane Spur in Bihar鈥檚 Kishanganj District In Bihar, a 24.849 km four-lane spur will be constructed to connect National Highway-27 (NH-27) and National Highway-327E on the Kishanganj-Bahadurganj section. With an estimated cost of Rs 11.17 billion, the project is designed to serve as a crucial economic corridor, directly linking the East-West Corridor (NH-27) with NH-327E. This spur will not only enhance travel between major cities but also improve access to Siliguri Airport (Bagdogra), cutting down the travel time and distance significantly. The efficient connectivity will be a key factor in boosting regional commerce and tourism. Access-Controlled Greenfield Corridor in Bihar A six-lane access-controlled greenfield corridor is set to be constructed from Ramnagar to Kachchi Dargah on National Highway-119D in Patna district, at a cost of Rs 10.83 billion. This project, part of the Amas-Darbhanga highway initiative, will provide vital direct connectivity between National Highways 19 (formerly NH-02) and 57 (formerly NH-27). The greenfield corridor will facilitate smoother long-haul traffic and improve freight movement in Bihar, while strengthening ties with neighboring states such as West Bengal, Jharkhand, and the Northeast.
